MANAGE YOUR WASTE ! TAKE ACTION !

Challenge yourself up and help reduce waste ! Start by adopting these simple tips :

  • Use a reusable bottle for drinks and use your backpack when carrying extra items, instead of using plastic and paper bags.

  • The bookstore won’t buy back your textbook? Instead of throwing it out, sell it online, donate it or if it’s paperback, toss it in the recycling bin.

  • Did you notice how much packaging your last take-out order came in? Dine in when you’re able, to reduce the use and disposal of extra packaging.

  • Buy used items rather than spending your money on new ones!

  • Print double-sided, including class notes, research and even the papers you hand in. Use refillable ink cartridges for your printer to save money and the environment.

  • Become a responsible citizen by picking up all the litter that crosses your path.

  • Reuse last semester’s three-ring binder instead of buying a new one.

  • Educate yourself on the recycling rules of your city, community, and places you visit, and follow them!

In partnership with the 2019 Water Towns Environmental Film and Arts Festival and Duke Kunshan University, we, the students of Environmental Chemistry ( CHEM 120), studied and analyzed the science behind the DKU sustainability pledge to spread awareness on the impacts of Waste on air, water and soil and the different ways students at DKU can get involved.
